On August 9, Academician Sergei Chizhik, the First Vice President of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and his delegation visited GDAS. The visiting guests were accompanied by Baganovsky Leonid, Consul General of the Consulate General of Belarus in Guangzhou, Yelena Orlova, Director General of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and Oleg Kalnachev, Director General of the Department of International Scientific and Technological Cooperation with China of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Liao Bing, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of GDAS, warmly received Sergei Chizhik and his delegation, and Li Dingqiang, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of GDAS, participated in the meeting and discussion.

Liao Bing accompanied Academician Sergei Chizhik to visit the exhibition hall of GDAS. He introduced in details the history of GDAS's development, management structure, research institutions and fields, talent introduction and training, innovation teams and platforms, transformation and incubation of achievements, as well as proactive services to the "Belt and Road" and the construction of the international science and technology innovation center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. During the meeting, Liao Bing said that GDAS was actually following the deployment and requirements of the country and Guangdong Province, and continuously deepening reform and establishing an effective system and mechanism; it vigorously introduced talents to build a hub of high-level talents; through creative scientific and technological cooperation, GDAS built an organizational platform for cooperation between industry, universities and research institutes and for transformation and application of scientific research achievements; and, it strengthened technology supply and built a high-end platform as a hub for innovation-driven development. He hoped that GDAS and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus could further strengthen connection in work in accordance with the cooperation framework agreement between the parties and the achievements from the institute directors forum, put into place the working institutions, carry out project cooperation, jointly train talents, build an innovation platform, so as to better serve the "Belt and Road" initiative, better promote the international science and technology innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, better leverage the strategic supporting role of scientific and technological innovation to the industrial and economic development of both sides.

Sergei Chizhik looked back to the journey of paying a return visit, communicating between the institutes, connecting for projects and holding the forum, which all happened in less than 2 months since the visit of President Liao Bing to the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. He expressed his full expectation for the prospect of cooperation between the two sides and his gratitude to GDAS for its hospitality. Sergei Chizhik further gave an overview of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and its scope of disciplines. He said, along with the continuous understanding between the two sides, it was believed that more institutes, more teams and more projects would be connected. He pointed out that, with the new opportunities for industrial development and technological innovation from the "Belt and Road" and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the scientific and technological cooperation between China and Belarus would be getting closer and closer. On the one hand, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus would accelerate and promote the cooperation with GDAS in building an innovation platform. On the other hand, the joint training of postgraduate students and other related work would be practically carried forward. He hoped that both parties would further explore the model for cooperation, expand the fields for, improve the working mechanism, strengthen connection and exchange, support industrial development and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
