Following the "Innovation and Technology Incubation” high-end forum, another large-scale high-end forum was held in Foshan. On August 8, 2009, the " Guangdong Academy of Sciences and Belarusian National Academy of Sciences Institute Directors Forum" was held in Foshan. Academician Sergei Chizhik, the first vice president of the presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and Wu Qingping, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered their keynote speeches. Two sub-forums were conducted around the field of bio-agriculture and resource environment and the field of new materials and equipment manufacturing. Directors from more than 20 research institutes in China and Belarus had in-depth discussion on scientific and technological issues and made face-to-face announcement of their cooperation intentions.

Sino-Belarusian scientific research forces gathered in Foshan

On July 1, 2019, GDAS and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus signed a framework agreement on scientific and technological cooperation, agreeing to start comprehensive cooperation, including basic research, technological development, transformation of achievements and personnel training, in a number of highly-matched areas.

　　The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, as the highest national scientific research institution of the Republic of Belarus, is very strong in scientific research. According to academician Sergei Chizhik, "the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and GDAS has a lot of common points in the fields of electronic information, drone, new materials, intelligent manufacturing, as well as agroecology and machinery manufacturing. In view of the industrial characteristics of Foshan, cooperation can be carried out in a number of fields." 

　　Liao Bing, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of GDAS, said that both parties would take this Institute Directors Forum as an opportunity to open up multi-level, comprehensive connection and interaction. He hoped that this forum would build a platform for discussion, dialogue and in-depth exchange on scientific and technological innovation, transformation of achievements, technology incubation and industry incubation. He also hoped the forum could promote the organic integration of advanced science and technology from Belarus with the advantageous industries in Foshan and the Greater Bay Area, and contribute to the deepened scientific and technological innovation and cooperation between Belarus and Guangdong.

　Academician Wu Qingping believed that the convening of the Institute Directors Forum created a good start for connecting with the rich scientific resources from the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences. "If the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences has a need, we can carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of microbiology, safety and health, including diabetic and oncological drugs." Next, the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences will visit the GDAS Institute of Microbiology for exchange, hence laying the groundwork for further research cooperation.

　　” According to Academician Sergei Chizhik, the establishment of Sino-Belarusian Industrial Park will open up a very good opportunity for the cooperation between the two parties. "We wish to use today's exchange and connection activities to carry out joint applied research with some institutions in Guangdong and Foshan, including the establishment of joint laboratories or R&D centers, to carry out related research on applied technologies for industrialization."

　　In the next step, Foshan Research Institute plans to unite with other related institutes and lead relevant enterprises to visit Belarus, invite more scientific research forces and scientific research projects to Foshan, speed up the pace of using scientific and technological achievements to directly serve the needs of industrial technology and realize industrial application.
