On August 8, "Guangdong Academy of Sciences - Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, Institute Directors Forum" was held in Foshan. The forum was sponsored by Guangdong Academy of Sciences and Foshan Municipal People's Government, undertaken by Foshan Bureau of Science and Technology and GDAS Foshan Industrial Technology Research Institute, and co-organized by GDAS Industrial Technology Innovation Alliance, Foshan National Torch Innovation Pioneering Park and Southei.com.

  Liao Bing, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of GDAS, Sergei Chizhik, First Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Cai Jiahua, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Foshan Municipal Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Foshan Municipal Government, Leonid Bamyanovsky, Consul General of Belarus in Guangzhou, attended the forum and delivered their speeches. Academician Sergei Chizhik, First Vice President of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and Wu Qingping, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered keynote speeches and accepted media interviews. Li Dingqiang, Vice President of GDAS, presided over the forum.

On June 28, upon the invitation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Liao Bing, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of GDAS, went to Belarus to carry out technical exchanges and signed a framework cooperation agreement. He said, GDAS, as an important scientific and technological force in the implementation of innovation-driven development in Guangdong, was active in expanding cooperation and exchanges with leading international research institutions, and jointly promoting the development of scientific and technological innovation.

 The forum focused on serving the strategic development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and discussed on the trends of supporting industrial development, international scientific and technological cooperation through scientific and technological innovation, and new models of sharing achievements. The aim of the forum was to promote international scientific and technological cooperation and new models of sharing achievements, promote the transformation of advanced scientific and technological innovations, promote the optimization and upgrading of Foshan's industries, and promote the construction of Guangdong into a strong province of science and technology and the advanced equipment manufacturing industry belt on the west bank of the Pearl River. It played a demonstration and leading role in contributing to the construction of a national science and technology industry innovation center and promoting the high-quality industry development.

In the Sub-Forum on Bio-Agriculture and Resources and Environment and the Sub-Forum on New Materials and Equipment Manufacturing held in the afternoon, the directors of the institutes had a heated discussion on strengthening technical cooperation and transformation of achievements in the fields of bio-agriculture and resources and environment, new materials and equipment manufacturing in Foshan. GDAS would further gather domestic and foreign high-level talents, technologies and industrialized resources, and promote the cultivation of strategic emerging industries and the optimization and upgrading of traditional industries in Foshan through the introduction of high-end talents and innovation teams, technological cooperation, establishment of public service platforms for scientific and technological innovation, and construction of incubators and industrial parks and other innovation carriers.

The convening of the institute directors forum of Chinese and Belarusian academies of sciences helps to bring innovation resources of Guangdong Academy of Sciences and Belarusian National Academy of Sciences to land in Foshan, sets a benchmark and forms a demonstration, and explores a new path for both R&D and incubation as well as integrated development of techfin industry. It also further promotes the study and exchange between scientific research institutions and personnel of the two countries, and plays an exemplary and leading role in the construction of a strong province of scientific and technological innovation and a national innovation center for science and technology industry.
