On July 19, GDAS Foshan Research Institute and Hangjianet.com co-organized an exchange meeting for UV LED Industry Alliance (the “Alliance”) in Foshan. This meeting was attended by representatives from relevant enterprises in the UV LED industry, including Midea Group, San’an Optoelectronics, Changelight, Nationstar, AMEC, Qingdao Jason, Epistar Luxlite, LGIT, Seoul Viosys, DOWA, Point Engineering Co., Ltd., Foshan Cnlight, Yuhuan Dafeng, Xiamen Shui Yi Bao and Guangdong Enchip, as well as representatives from GDAS Institute of Semiconductors and Institute of Rare Metals.

At the meeting, representatives from Foshan Research Institute and Hangjianet.com proposed a preliminary proposal for the Alliance, and all participants discussed and set out the functions, value, structure and rules of the Alliance. Xiao Renjun, President of Foshan Research Institute, pointed out that Foshan Industrial Technology Research Institute could play a huge role in promoting exchanges in the UV LED industry and helping the industry to carry out technological research. Enterprises could closely rely on this platform and combine resources to accelerate the scale and commercialized development of the UV LED industry. Cai Jiandong, General Manager of Hangjianet.com said, as a service platform for LED enterprises, Hangjianet.com would take the UV LED industry as a key target of observation, and would actively participate in and organize the matters of the Alliance in order to promote the development of the Alliance.

Lin Shihong, representative of Midea Group, Sam Wong, representative of San’an Optoelectronics, Zhao Sen, representative of Nationstar, Liang Xudong, representative of Qingdao Jason, Zhu Xiang, representative of LGIT, and Lin Xiaobo, representative of Seoul Viosys, all made their speech in the meeting. The participating representatives discussed about the development of the Alliance, explored into the idea of developing the industry through the Alliance, and expressed their current urgent need for establishing standards in the industry. They hoped that the Alliance could play its role as a marketing and promotional platform to enhance the social influence of the industry. In addition, representatives from AMEC, PEC, Xiamen Shui Yi Bao and Yuhuan Dafeng raised many pertinent questions and put forward constructive opinions.

 In 2020, the Minamata Convention will come into force, and UVC LED industry will see its explosive growth. With the upcoming hundred-billion dollar market opportunity in the industry, the convening of the UV Alliance exchange meeting plays a crucial role in accelerating the commercialization, scale production and standardization of UV LED industry.
