On June 28, upon the invitation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Liao Bing, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of GDAS, led a delegation to Belarus to carry out technical exchanges and sign a framework agreement on cooperation. Academician Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, received Liao Bing and his delegation.

Vladimir Gusakov said, Belarus and China had always been maintaining good cooperative relations. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus attached great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with GDAS in the field of science and technology. He believed that the visit and the signing of the framework agreement on cooperation would lay a solid foundation for deepening scientific and technological cooperation between both parties.

Liao Bing expressed his gratitude to the White National Academy of Sciences for its warm reception, and said that GDAS, as an important scientific and technological force in the implementation of innovation-driven development in Guangdong, was actively expanding cooperation and exchanges with leading international research institutions with an aim to jointly promote the development of scientific and technological innovation. The signing of the framework agreement was of great significance to the scientific and technological cooperation between the two sides. Both parties would start comprehensive cooperation in a number of highly relevant areas, including basic research, technological research and development, transformation of achievements and talent training.

During the meeting, the two parties agreed to set up a joint working group and to convene a forum in the near future for directors of both research institutes to connect and exchange on the research fields of common interest. Zhang Jishan, First Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus, attended the meeting. He expressed that the Embassy would accord its full support to the scientific and technological cooperation between GDAS and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

During the visit, Liao Bing and his delegation also went to the Stepanov Institute of Physics, Joint Research Institute of Information Problems, Institute of New Materials and Chemistry of Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, to have technological exchanges. Xiao Renjun, President of GDAS Foshan Industrial Technology Research Institute, Dong Chunlin, Director of GDAS Institute of Welding, and Li Qianru, former Science and technology Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ukraine, attended related activities.
