On June 24, Liao Bing, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, led a delegation to visit scientific research institutions in Ukraine for technical exchanges, including the Institute of Polymer Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Paton Welding Institute.

In the Institute of Polymer Chemistry, Liao Bing and his delegation had a comprehensive understanding of the Institute's research direction, latest R&D news and industrialization of related technological achievements. They also had an in-depth research and discussion on scientific and technological innovation, technology transfer and transformation as well as the models for cooperation between both parties and construction of a joint R&D centers outside the country.

In the Paton Welding Institute, Liao Bing met with Academician Boris Paton, who was the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Director of Paton Welding Institute and an international welding master. Both persons had in-depth exchanges on the progress of cooperation between GDAS and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the next step in the planning. Academician Paton expressed his appreciation and support to signing of the agreement on partnership in education and basic scientific research between GDAS, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and Paton Welding Institute of Ukraine, and to continuous deepening of comprehensive scientific and technological cooperation between both parties. He looked forward to a fruitful cooperation between the two sides.

During the visit, the delegation also met with Academician Igor Krivtsun, Deputy Director of Paton Welding Institute. They had discussions about the work of Sino-Ukrainian Research Institute on basic research, transformation of scientific and technological achievements and talent training in the next step. Sino-Ukrainian Research Institute was jointly established by both parties in Guangdong Province.

Li Qianru, former Science and Technology Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Ukraine, Xiao Renjun, President of Foshan Industrial Technology Research Institute, and Dong Chunlin, Director of Guangdong Welding Institute, among others, participated in related activities.
