On January 12, Andrey Popov, Consul General of the Consulate General of Belarus in Guangzhou, and his delegation visited Foshan Industrial Technology Research Institute of Guangdong Academy of Sciences ("Foshan Institute") to exchange ideas and have discussion about promoting the construction of the Sino-Belarusian Joint Innovation Center for Industrial Technology ("Sino-Belarusian Center") and in-depth cooperation among all parties. Mr. Xiao Renjun, President of Foshan Institute and Board Chairman of Sino-Belarusian Center, and Mr. Yin Hongjun, Vice President of Foshan Institute and General Manager of Sino-Belarusian Center, received Andrey Popov and his delegation.

Xiao Renjun expressed a warm welcome to the arrival of Consul General Andrei Popov, and introduced the general situation of Foshan Institute in carrying out industrial technology innovation and promoting the incubation of scientific and technological achievements with enterprises in four fields, including intelligent manufacturing, new materials, electronic information and bio-health, based on the current situation of Foshan industry and relying on the advantages of the Institute of Provincial Academy of Sciences in technology and talents. Yin Hongjun introduced the work progress of Sino-Belarusian Center. He said that Sino-Belarusian Center will be built into a science and technology achievement display center, an offshore technology incubation center and a Foshan science and technology products exhibition center. Sino-Belarusian Center will utilize its location advantage Sino-Belarusian “Great Stone” Industry Park to help promote international science and technology cooperation and exchange, and provide more technical support services for promoting Foshan-made science and technology products to the European market.

Andrey Popov thanked Guangdong Academy of Sciences for the constructive advices and innovative exploration. He said that Foshan Institute has made remarkable achievements in promoting the matching of scientific and technological achievements with corporate applications. Sino-Belarusian Center, as a joint project between Guangdong Academy of Sciences and Belarus National Academy of Sciences, serves as an important platform for the implementation of scientific and technological cooperation and collaborative innovation, which is highly valued by the government of Belarus. The Consulate General in Guangzhou will coordinate and cooperate with all parties in order to jointly build the Sino-Belarusian Center into an example for promoting scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between China and Belarus.

Xiao Renjun said that Foshan Institute will accelerate the construction of an offshore incubator of the Sino-Belarusian Center, promote the connection of international science and technology innovation resources with relevant institutes of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, promote the transfer and incubation of international science and technology innovation achievements in Foshan, and promote international science and technology cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win results. Sino-Belarusian Center is an international platform and hub for scientific and technological cooperation. It is helpful not only to promote applied research, technical cooperation and personnel exchange between the research institutes under Guangdong Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, but also to identify more opportunities for technological cooperation by organizing studies and exchanges involving scientists and entrepreneurs.

Oleg Kalnachev, Deputy General Manager of Sino-Belarusian Center, participated in the meeting via video conference call from Minsk, the capital city of Belarus.

Andrei Popov and his delegation visited the laboratory of Guangdong Enchip Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd., a Foshan Institute incubated enterprise, and also visited the product showroom of Foshan Louvre Ceramics Co., Ltd., a well-known building material enterprise in Foshan.
